Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

Interview was quite eventful, appointment was 9.30am and i left at 11.15am.

I arrived early, and i saw 3 queues in front of the entrance: 2 queues by appointment time (8.30 - 9.00am) / (9.30 - 10.30), 1 queue for American Citizen
I went to the queue for 9.30am. The officer in front of the queue looked at my paper and asked me to go to the american citizen line where i can go straight in.

I went up to a bag check desk, the lady then pointed me to the general queue, which i didnt feel right. I told them I'm applying for immigrant visa. I proceeded immediately to security scanning. They asked my to take my shoes off and then a person fainted they have to stop letting people in for a bit.

It was a small room with 4 windows, basically there's only 1 consulate throughout.

It was so loud that I get to listen to everyone's interview.

I queued up at window 1 to give them my doc pack. I sorted th... read complete review

Very pleasant experience - the consulate was well organized. Nice officers who were very patient in explaining what to expect for the interview.

The actual interview was short (maybe lasted a minute at the counter, through a glass window - asked how we met, what my (then) fiance does for a living, and congrats! your visa is approved!

The officers took a really quick look at my fiance's package, and didn't ask a question about our relationship at all. They proceeded to explain all the legal stuff, including the number to call the police (911) if there were any signs of domestic violence, and afterwards took my fiance's passport and asked her to go home and wait for the new visa to arrive.

The wait was in fact long. My appointment time was at 9:30am, but I was the last to leave at 12:30pm. You will see 2 people, one prep person and the interviewer. The prep time was slow but interview time was quick.
